OUR NEXT JOURNEY OUT...

Our next journey to Ukraine includes an orphanage, supplying new clothes and toys to children who have lost their parents to this horrific war. This is in early August but we still require funds to make the journey. Please give whatever you can, every little helps so many who have lost everything.

AN UPDATE ON IAIN`S 17TH TRIP TO UKRAINE AND WHAT WAS ACHIEVED

We bought a Volvo XC90 from our own pockets and raised funds to get it to Ukraine. We also stuffed it full of aid donated by all you wonderful people for civilians in a shelter in Kharkiv, most having been bombed out of their homes and left with nothing and most with medical and/or mobility issues.

Normally Iain and myself would go right to Kharkiv and front line areas personally, but at the time of this trip I had health issues to deal with and Iain, being a volunteer patient transport driver for the NHS was too busy to do the normal two week trip.

So Iain took 3 days in total from Kirkcudbright to Lviv where he met up with a good friend of ours and a main contact from Kharkiv called Andrey. He took control of the car and made the drive with it to near Zaporizhia to meet up with another friend to transfer all the aid into another car for Kharkiv. Then he handed the car over to Dmitri who is part of a team of psychologists helping military guys and girls, as well as paramedics, etc with so many various problems and issues. Dmitri was delighted with this car as it will be used to transport him and his kit from place to place in connection with his tasks.

Andrey then took all the aid to the shelter in Kharkiv which is a city just 21 km from front lines and is bombarded night and day with ballistic missiles and drones. This shelter is one of the places we help support and Iain has been many times with aid and even donated a disability minibus to them last year, which is in constant use and has been a godsend for them. The shelter exists purely from donations and is run by volunteers. It currently has 49 residents.

A HUGE THANK YOU!

The residents were delighted to receive this aid, as were the people looking after them.  We know these people and they know us. We have a bond with them so we want to make sure we can continue to support and help them.

SO, from all of these people we helped and from myself and Iain we want to say a HUGE thank you to all who helped make this possible.

We have 2 further vehicles going out in August on a lengthy trip with a fire fighting vehicle for a community just 7 km from the Russian line and a car full of new clothes for the orphans near Kharkiv whom we also help and support regularly.
